What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?
At Lincoln Park Aesthetics, laser skin resurfacing is a nonsurgical aesthetic procedure that utilizes pulsating beams of light to exfoliate dead and damaged skin one layer at a time. You may have heard it called a laser peel or a skin resurfacing treatment. The procedure is great for addressing facial wrinkles and lines and for improving skin blemishes, such as acne scars, pigmentation, and other flaws. Based on the needs of your skin and skin type, our aesthetics team can customize your laser skin resurfacing treatment by making specific adjustments to the laser. Laser Skin Resurfacing Reviews
"I actually like this place a lot. I bought 2 groupon packages from here - a laser facial and 4 tattoo removal sessions (one of which I haven’t been able to get to due my school schedule). The staff has always been very friendly and knowledgeable, and they introduced me to epionce which has been a staple of my skin care regimen this winter. It’s definitely on the pricey side, but that’s to be expected from a med spa in lincoln park. Looking forward to future facials from here and to completing my final tattoo removal sesh. Great place."- M.C. / Yelp / Dec 16, 2016
"I have gone to a few different places for laser hair removal treatments and Lincoln Park Aesthetics is my favorite. Jenna has been my technicians through all my treatments ( I started with someone else though) and she is really great. I like having just one person that you schedule with all the time, because then they really get to know you and it feels more personal. Not all places are like that. l have never felt pressured into buying anything I didn’t want, though I have bought additional laser treatments as I love this spa. I’ve never had a problem scheduling, and was even able to reschedule for the following week when I realized I wouldn’t be able to make my appointment (I called more then 24 hours in advance per their policy, and avoided the cancellation fee, which is just like any other med spa). By far the best laser and results of any of the places I have gone. I would highly recommend!!"- A.S. / Yelp / Dec 21, 2015
"I am a regular client of Jenna’s and can not say enough good things about her and Lincoln Park Aesthetics. I originally came in for laser facial rejuvenation but after my initial consultation where we discussed my past treatments and my skin goals, we decided on a different course of treatment - microneedling. In just a few sessions I have seen more improvement on my deep acne scars and overall skin texture through my visits with Jenna than I had seen from prior years of more expensive and more invasive laser treatments. The pricing is reasonable and I appreciate the value. Typically to get a good deal for these types of services in Chicago you’re going somewhere sketchy that churns people in and out like cattle - not here. I look forward to the relaxing atmosphere and the time and care that Jenna puts into my skin. I am so happy I found this place."- B.S. / Yelp / Mar 25, 2016
"I went in for a brazilian laser hair today. I’ve had laser hair treatments on other parts in the past and was not looking forward to such a large area. Lincoln Park Aestherics uses The Palomar Vectus Laser and it is AMAZING. ZERO PAIN. I’m not kidding. Let’s face it, getting anything done in the brazilian area is soo awkward but Michelle kept talking to me the whole time so it went by very quickly. The salon is very clean and professional. I will have any and all future laser treatments done here. No question."- C.M. / Yelp / Jan 05, 2013
Can I have Laser Skin resurfacing?
Are you displeased with your skin's appearance and/or texture? If you have sun damage, acne scars, age spots, wrinkles and fine lines, pigmentation, or redness troubles, then laser skin resurfacing may address these cosmetic flaws. In addition, it works wonders for both men and women who have scaly patches, rough texture, or other irregularities. Laser skin resurfacing is not suggested for anyone who has very dark skin or active acne. We also want you to know that there is some downtime associated with these laser treatments. Depending on the condition of your skin, you may need up to 2 – 3 weeks for your skin to normalize.
Our Laser Skin Resurfacing Technique
You will have your laser skin resurfacing sessions in a private room at Lincoln Park Aesthetics. A topical anesthetic may be used to numb treated areas of the face. For the whole face or more intense laser treatments, a form of sedation may be used. Throughout the laser session, we hope you can be at ease in our special treatment chair while the laser passes over your skin. It will directly target the specific sections you select for rejuvenation. You may feel the warmth from the laser followed by cool air from the system's built-in temperature control. The laser will destroy damaged and dead skin cells. As the laser reaches into the deeper layers of your skin, it will activate your body to produce new collagen growth.
What to Expect
Following a mild laser skin resurfacing treatment, a healing serum will be applied to the skin and you can return home for your recovery. The skin will appear red, and there may be some irritation and swelling. This should subside within a couple of days, and the peeling process will last over a 3 – 5-day timeframe. If you are having a deep, more intense session, your recovery period will take longer. The treated areas may be covered by dressings. The irritation, swelling, and burning symptoms will be more intense and last much longer. All patients should limit their sun exposure after their resurfacing session and use sun protection regularly. No matter which level of skin resurfacing you have, your skin will naturally crust and flake off. Your skin should feel softer while looking clearer, rejuvenated, and younger once healed.
