What are Chemical Peels?
To provide the highest quality results from chemical peel treatments, Lincoln Park Aesthetics provides you with numerous choices. Your customized chemical peel with exfoliating solutions (such as salicylic, glycolic, trichloroacetic, and lactic acids) will reveal healthier, more radiant skin. At our Chicago, IL office, our team offers chemical peel treatments that help to minimize skin irregularities, including scars, fine lines, wrinkles, dry patches, hyperpigmentation problems, and more. Chemical peels work by removing damaged, dead skin cells with the application of a specific treatment on your skin that causes the oldest layer to peel off. When your skin heals and starts to repair and rejuvenate itself, you may see a clearer, smoother complexion. A chemical peel facial is a noninvasive option to make your complexion radiant and may be appropriate for the face and neck.
Chemical Peel Reviews
"I have since returned to LPA and received a chemical peel from Jordan. I am extremely happy with the progress my skin has been making the past few months with Jordan’s helpful tips. Thank you!!"- E.K. / Yelp / Jan 09, 2019
"Firstly let me say I had a Groupon, I needed to spend a credit that I had for a while and thought, what the hell I’ll try this. Because frankly, the only place I like to see a mustache is on a man. Sure I’m exaggerating about the hair on my upper lip, but it’s there, the credit I had was enough to cover the six sessions needed.I had no issues scheduling my appointment and informed them of the Groupon. I was told I can do the consult and the appointment at one time. The consult was maybe ten minutes, and the only reason I had to come back for the service is that I had tweezed the area just the day before which is a no-no, because when you tweeze you pull out the follicle that the laser is trying to kill. No follicle no use doing the treatment. Today, my appointment was right on time, Jordan did the treatment, and kindly explained the whole procedure, the amount of time and what time expect. She asked about how I tan, how thick the hair is, etc. My immediate concern was about pain, having had part of a tattoo removed that numbing cream was used on, she assured me that if I could tolerate that, this will seem like nothing. She was absolutely right, this was easy and very quick. I’m looking forward to getting the rest zapped and not having to inspect this area for wisps of hair everyday. They do a lot of other skin related services, people on the way out seemed happy, one lady looked as if she just had a chemical peel done and was exchanging pleasantries with the front desk. I’ll stick with this, the words chemical and peel scare me. I’ll continue to exfoliate with a sugar paste I mix up a couple of times a week. I may look older, but I won’t be hairy. Nice folks, relaxing and clean surroundings."- G.R. / Yelp / Jun 11, 2019
"I just got off the phone with receptionist I believe his name is Jeremy and he was extremely helpful locking me in for an appointment and recommended a few peels and was so sweet and I feel extremely comfortable and happy and I haven’t even went in for my peel yet. Amazing customer service skills!!!!"- B.H. / Google / Jun 12, 2019
"I come here for Jordan’s facials because I love Jordan and she is the reason I never wear makeup anymore AND she cured my skin when I had the most atrocious pores and also a compromised barrier. I would pretty much die for Jordan at this point. This is a medspa so it’s not quite as ~calming~ as a traditional spa but I do get to have more intense peels so it’s kind of worth it."- K.S. / Yelp / Oct 08, 2020

Variations of OUr Chemical Peels at LPA
In our Chicago, IL office, we offer chemical peels in several levels of strength (light, medium, and deep) to accommodate our patients' skin care concerns and goals.
You can have a light, superficial chemical peel on a lunch break and return back to your routine as normal. This level of peel will remove the outer layer of your skin (the epidermis), giving your complexion a more radiant appearance and softer texture. We usually suggest that you receive a superficial peel about once a month. Many patients start with a superficial peel (like an alpha hydroxy acid peel) and work up to the more advanced peels.
A medium-level chemical peel reaches further into your skin (to the dermis), and we advise to have this level of facial treatment over an extended weekend. A medium peel may be formulated with trichloroacetic and glycol acids. You may also need to prepare yourself for more discomfort during and after the treatment. Medium-depth peels are for patients who have significant damage to their skin, such as deeper age lines and darker pigmentation problems.
The most advanced of the three levels of peels is the deep peel (made with phenol and trichloroacetic acid). A deep peel will require the lengthiest recovery time. This is an aggressive treatment that can leave your face peeling, itchy, and swollen for 2 – 3 weeks. Patients who receive a deep chemical peel generally have dark age spots, sun-damaged skin, significant acne scars, or deep-seated scars. As this strength of peel is generally uncomfortable for most patients, we will provide you with mild anesthesia prior to your treatment.
Can I have a chemical peel with my skin type?
Receiving the recommendations of a skin professional is the first part of the journey to smooth, healthy skin. At Lincoln Park Aesthetics, we will assess your skin during an examination in our office before selecting a chemical peel treatment for the best results. Chemical peel candidates, both women and men, will have visible concerns in their skin, such as scars, rough patches, hyperpigmentation, flaky skin, sun spots, fine lines, and much more. We can recommend different types of peels to match your needs and concerns.
Our Chemical Peel Technique
On the day of your chemical peel appointment at Lincoln Park Aesthetics, you can expect to have your treatment in a private room. In a relaxed position, your peel will be administered to your face and neck. The type of chemical peel and the length of time on your skin will be determined in your chemical peel consultation. Most chemical peels are removed with a neutralizing agent. We will put soothing serums on your treated skin. If you have a deep peel, we may dress your facial skin in a bandage for your protection.
What to Expect
The intensity and depth of your chemical peel will likely determine how long your recovery period will be. Your facial skin may look irritated, feel itchy, and peel for a few days to a couple of weeks. We can set you up with an at-home skin care routine after your chemical peel for longer-lasting results.
Once you are at home in recovery, please follow the directives of your chemical peel provider. Please keep in mind that no matter how badly your skin itches, it is not wise to pick the skin off. You may cause scarring to your facial skin. Limiting your exposure to the sun is also very beneficial. We advise that you wear sunscreen anytime you are in the sun's rays.
