What is Microdermabrasion?
Accomplish more in your quest for renewed health and tone of your facial skin with microdermabrasion at Lincoln Park Aesthetics. With microdermabrasion, your skin can be revitalized to look and feel younger and with fewer rough patches using crystals. Using a stream of air, this microdermabrasion technique pushes the crystals over your skin to gradually remove the top layer of the dermis. Not only does microdermabrasion eliminate the dead skin cells and debris clogging up your skin, but it also stimulates collagen production as well. At Lincoln Park Aesthetics in Chicago, IL, our aesthetics team can remove that outer layer of debris with microdermabrasion.
Microdermabrasion Reviews
Am I a candidate for microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion treatments can reduce the appearance of skin issues on the skin's surface, including uneven texture, fine lines, dull skin tone, clogged pores, scars, and sun damage. It is appropriate for men and women of every skin type and tone who want healthier, clearer skin. These treatments are usually used on the face; however, microdermabrasion can also be performed on your hands, neck, and chest. This treatment should not be used on skin with an open wound or if you have a chronic condition, such as rosacea or acne. The deep exfoliation will only make inflamed skin feel and look worse.
Our Microdermabrasion Technique
Microdermabrasion treatments are performed at our office after a consultation to decide what services will provide you with paramount results. During the session, you will lie back in a comfortable chair while your facial skin is being prepared. The microdermabrasion handpiece will pass along your skin as it both polishes and vacuums the dead cells and crystals. Although the process may feel unusual, it should not be painful so you shouldn't need a numbing cream or local anesthesia. The microdermabrasion will be applied evenly over the selected areas but with more care and sensitivity on the delicate skin around the eyes. As soon as the process is done, your skin will be cleaned to get rid of any residue before a moisturizer with sunscreen, selected for your skin type, is massaged into your skin.
What to Expect
Since microdermabrasion is surface skin care, you may consider combining it with other aesthetic treatments, such as an injectable wrinkle treatment. Initially, you may need anywhere from 5 – 12 microdermabrasion treatments scheduled about 2 – 4 weeks apart to rejuvenate your complexion. After that, you should schedule appointments every 1 – 2 months to maintain the health of your skin. We encourage you to limit your exposure to UV rays (natural sunlight or tanning beds) and protect your complexion with sunscreen. To reduce swelling and redness after microdermabrasion, our aesthetics team might recommend that you use a soothing serum or a cold compress on the treated skin.
