What is Microdermabrasion?
Accomplish more in your quest for renewed health and tone of your facial skin with microdermabrasion at Lincoln Park Aesthetics. With microdermabrasion, your skin can be revitalized to look and feel younger and with fewer rough patches using crystals. Using a stream of air, this microdermabrasion technique pushes the crystals over your skin to gradually remove the top layer of the dermis. Not only does microdermabrasion eliminate the dead skin cells and debris clogging up your skin, but it also stimulates collagen production as well. At Lincoln Park Aesthetics in Chicago, IL, our aesthetics team can remove that outer layer of debris with microdermabrasion.
"I am another one who has purchased a groupon for the 6 laser hair treatments and I couldn’t have been happier with the experience from Danie and price. Although I have only had two sessions, I have already seen a reduction in hair growth in my arm pits and bikini area. Danie is very sweet and made sure that I was very comfortable considering I am kind of a baby about the laser. (It is not super painful, just feels a little prickly) I would recommend this medical spa to anyone. In the past, I’ve also received a microdermabrasion and peel from Danie, which loved both of them as well. When I received them, she fully explained what it would feel like and how to take care of my skin afterwards. She is very acknowledge on all treatments that the spa offers as well as the products they use in house. Again, I highly recommend this spa to other."- C.T. / Yelp / Jan 16, 2016
"I had a terrific experience here. I went in for a microdermabrasion facial and my aesthetician Stéphanie was top notch. She was very knowledgeable about the products and procedure and was also very meticulous. The facial was also very effective and I recognize the importance of an amped up microdermabrasion vs a standard facial. I’ll be back for other offerings."- J.B. / Yelp / Feb 05, 2017
"I went to LPA after seeing a special for a new client facial that was $89. I’ve been wanted to start a regular facial regime for a while so took advantage of their special after reading some positive reviews. This was literally one of the best services EVER. I had a microdermabrasion facial with Gege and OMG, amazing. If it wasn’t so pricey I would be here every month and getting many types of treatments. The only annoying thing is that they do not show their prices on their website."- M.T. / Yelp / Apr 14, 2019
Am I a candidate for microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion treatments can reduce the appearance of skin issues on the skin's surface, including uneven texture, fine lines, dull skin tone, clogged pores, scars, and sun damage. It is appropriate for men and women of every skin type and tone who want healthier, clearer skin. These treatments are usually used on the face; however, microdermabrasion can also be performed on your hands, neck, and chest. This treatment should not be used on skin with an open wound or if you have a chronic condition, such as rosacea or acne. The deep exfoliation will only make inflamed skin feel and look worse.
Our Microdermabrasion Technique
Microdermabrasion treatments are performed at our office after a consultation to decide what services will provide you with paramount results. During the session, you will lie back in a comfortable chair while your facial skin is being prepared. The microdermabrasion handpiece will pass along your skin as it both polishes and vacuums the dead cells and crystals. Although the process may feel unusual, it should not be painful so you shouldn't need a numbing cream or local anesthesia. The microdermabrasion will be applied evenly over the selected areas but with more care and sensitivity on the delicate skin around the eyes. As soon as the process is done, your skin will be cleaned to get rid of any residue before a moisturizer with sunscreen, selected for your skin type, is massaged into your skin.
What to Expect
Since microdermabrasion is surface skin care, you may consider combining it with other aesthetic treatments, such as an injectable wrinkle treatment. Initially, you may need anywhere from 5 – 12 microdermabrasion treatments scheduled about 2 – 4 weeks apart to rejuvenate your complexion. After that, you should schedule appointments every 1 – 2 months to maintain the health of your skin. We encourage you to limit your exposure to UV rays (natural sunlight or tanning beds) and protect your complexion with sunscreen. To reduce swelling and redness after microdermabrasion, our aesthetics team might recommend that you use a soothing serum or a cold compress on the treated skin.
