What is Microneedling?
Microneedling with the SkinPen® uses multiple fine needles to effectively and safely make micro-injuries in the needed areas of the skin for collagen induction therapy. The micro-injuries trigger the body's natural production of elastin and collagen, two nutrients that improve the overall health and appearance of your complexion. Often combined with other treatments, microneedling can help minimize pores, stretch marks, and scars. "This review is for Lauren Budzinski. First off, I should start out by saying that I am an overly picky person. I rarely endorse anything publicly, so to reach my personal criterion says a lot. Lauren is the absolute best esthetician and the only person in Chicago that I trust with my face. Not only is she a genuine pleasure to interact with, but her work on skin is superb. I go to Lauren for microneedling, LHR, IPL, and hydrafacial procedures. Lauren worked with me to personalize a treatment plan to accomplish my personal skin texture resurfacing goals. In the three years that I have been regularly coming to her, I have been completely blown away with the results and positive change in my skin. The only reason that I would be remiss to write this review, is that her schedule would get booked up with y'all and she wouldn't have time for me. Inasmuch, Lauren comes with my highest recommendation for skin care in Chicago."- M.M. / Google / Jun 19, 2020
"This review is for Summer. Summer’s overall care is the best I have ever received from an esthetician! Her knowledge of skin, skin treatments, products, her attention to detail, and her kindness always keeps me coming back. I have been coming to her for my microneedling treatments and she is the best. Highly recommend her!"- J.M. / Google / Jun 26, 2020
Should I have microneedling?
You may benefit from microneedling treatments if you experience slight or mild skin issues, like rough skin texture or low elasticity. Microneedling can reduce the appearance of scars, stretch marks, and enlarged pores. In general, microneedling is safe for all skin tones and types. Skin injuries created by microneedling are so minor, there are rarely side effects afterward. Our SkinPen can be applied to most areas of skin, including the face, arms, neck, chest, thighs, and calves. Microneedling is not recommended if you have taken Accutane within the last 2 – 3 months, as well as if you have an open wound, active skin infection, or a herpes simplex outbreak. Additionally, you may not qualify for microneedling if you are nursing, pregnant, or undergoing radiation treatments.
Our Microneedling Technique
Collagen induction therapy with microneedling is performed in a private treatment room in around 30 – 60 minutes with local anesthesia or numbing cream if preferred. Many patients generally report feeling little or no discomfort. The areas of skin being treated will be cleaned before the microneedling handpiece is evenly passed over your treatment area. Once the microneedling is performed, a topical treatment, like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or a vitamin-infused serum, can be applied so the nutrients can penetrate deeper into the skin. A moisturizer and a soothing serum will be massaged in along with sun protection since the treated skin will be more sensitive following the treatment.
What to Expect
After your treatment, you can have some redness and swelling for around one day; however, this should fade quickly on its own. It may take about 1 – 2 months as the collagen and elastin levels increase before you see visible changes in the appearance and health of your skin. You should plan to get around 4 – 6 maintenance sessions every 4 – 6 weeks for the best results and long-term skin health.
